Mr. Rashad Taylor was born and raised in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson Senior High School of International Studies and is a proud product of the DC Public Schools System. Rashad began his college matriculation at Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia, with a major in international relations.

During his junior year at Morehouse College, Rashad led a living wage campaign for the school's janitors. His year long organizing efforts led to a salary increase for the janitors. In addition, Rashad has spearheaded numerous voter registration and mobilization efforts for students in Atlanta, resulting in the registration of over 3,000 students.

Before graduating from high school, Rashad was hired as an intern for Congressman John Lewis through the Congressional Black Caucus College Internship Program. Rashad was the first high school student ever selected for this competitive internship program.

Rashad worked closely with Senator Fort on the passage of the State's first hate crimes law, legislation curbing the pimping and pandering of young children, and the nation's toughest law against predatory lending.

Rashad also worked as the State Finance Assistant for US Senator Max Cleland's re-election campaign.

In May 2002, Rashad began managing the campaign of Alisha Thomas for State Representative. Ms. Thomas became the first African American elected from Cobb County to the Georgia Legislature and at 23 she is the youngest serving member of the General Assembly. Also, Rashad managed the campaign of Khaatim S. El to the Atlanta Board of Education. Mr. El is the youngest person elected to office in Atlanta and is currently the youngest elected official in the State of Georgia.

In early 2004, Rashad co-founded a political consulting company in Atlanta where he devised campaign strategy for several local candidates, including many judicial and county commission races.

During the 2007 Legislative Session Rashad was Legislative Coordinator for Planned Parenthood of Georgia, organizing the group's lobbying efforts at the State Capitol. In June 2007, Rashad became Political Director for the Democratic Party of Georgia. In May 2007, Rashad was named as a Rising Star in national politics by Campaigns and Elections Magazine.

In addition to his political work, Rashad is also an active member of his community. He is a founding member and served on the Executive Committee for Atlanta Jobs with Justice. He served three years on the Board of Directors for NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia and the Youth Task Force, the oldest civil and human rights organization founded by young people of color.

Rashad is an active member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia.
